LP Helps Set Up Tsunami Charity
Linkin Park have joined forces with the American Red
Cross to establish Music for Relief, a new charity
which will help victims of the tsunami disaster in
southern Asia.
MTV.com reports that Linkin Park have donated
$100,000 to the charity.
"As a band, we were in a position to help, but this
needs to be a lot broader effort - both by our fans
and by other musicians," said Linkin Park guitarist
Brad Delson.
"If one of our fans can donate $10, then that's
going to help, and the faster we can do it, the
better."
"The whole thing is really a race against time,"
Delson said.
In June, Linkin Park played a massive outdoor
concert at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.
Today, a few miles away, that city's international
airport serves as a makeshift triage station, with
victims of the disaster receiving medical treatment
on the tarmac.
"We played what was the largest Thai concert in the
past 10 years. It was an amazing show, and I carry
with me the hospitality of the Thai people and the
people of southern Asia," he said. "And having been
there, I can just say that people there were so
welcoming to us, and I really hope that through this
effort we can help in some small way."
Donations can be made at
MusicForRelief.org, which goes live Wednesday (today)
at 4pm EST and at American Red Cross' site,

Linkin Park's debut album "Hybrid Theory" was
recently rated 28th out of 100 in MTV2 Europe's 'Greatest

This list was created by the MTV2 staff, Rock and
Alternative artists as well as viewers of the

LP Rocks The End Of The Year
Chart
Linkin Park has had a very impressing year in
2004 for the Billboard Charts. They've had singles
go to #1 for several weeks, had an album stay on the
charts for a really long time and currently have a
mash-up cd that will still be a hit next year.
According to Billboard.com, Linkin Park has earned
the number one spot on the year-end Hot
Modern Rock Artists chart.
"Four songs from the band's sophomore album charted
on the year-end Modern Rock Tracks recap, with three
finishing in the top 10. This earns the act the No.
1 spot on the year-end Hot Modern Rock Artists chart.
"Numb" was the year's second-most-spun song in
modern rock, while "Breaking the Habit" and "Lying
From You" came in at Nos. 8 and 9, respectively. "Faint"
also garnered airplay, while the band's
collaboration with Jay-Z, the just-released "Collision
Course," ensures that the group will have a presence
on next year's chart as well.
What's more impressive is that the five singles
released from the quadruple-platinum "Meteora" all
have logged at least three weeks at No. 1 on the
Modern Rock Tracks chart for a total of 30 weeks
atop that list."
Here are the final numbers for 2004 for Linkin Park:
Meteora is #33 and Live In Texas is #88 on the Top
200 Albums of 2004
Numb is #2, Breaking The Habit is #8 and Lying From
You is #9 on the Top Modern Rock Tracks of 2004
Numb is #8 is on the Top Mainstream Rock Tracks of
2004
Numb is #33 on the Hot 100 Singles of 2004
CONGRATULATIONS TO LINKIN PARK!
